VP of Operations

Overview

Our client is a successful system integrator preparing to reach the next level by building the structure and performance culture needed for growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering, controls, project management, and production.
• Own the performance of project and controls engineering, manufacturing, and commissioning, including throughput, quality, and on-time delivery across active projects.
• Build the technical mentorship and escalation structure so complex projects have a clear owner and less experienced staff have someone to learn from.
• Break down silos between engineering, shop, support, and controls by building shared reporting structures and cross-team processes.
• Lead adoption of AI and process tooling built around how the organization works.
• Serve as the internal owner for escalated projects and customer or supplier conflicts that exceed what the frontline team can resolve.
• Shape reporting lines, mentorship structures, and accountability within the function.
• Maintain technical credibility with engineers, technicians, and controls staff without performing every technical task directly.

Requirements

• Track record of leading operations, engineering, or a comparable technical function through a period of growth.
• Comfort operating without a fully defined mandate.
• Ability to bring clarity and process to an organization still defining its reporting lines.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead a hiring and mentorship pipeline for technical roles that are difficult to staff.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with systems integration, industrial controls, PLC controls, warehouse control software, or material handling equipment.
• Alternatively, demonstrated ability to build technical credibility quickly in an unfamiliar domain, particularly in an engineer-to-order, project-based environment.
• Experience with M&A integration, growth investment, or preparing a company for a future sale.
