Position Overview

An institutional investment management firm seeks a Senior Manager, Infrastructure Operations to lead the team responsible for its datacenter and network infrastructure.

This hands-on leadership role will help ensure a reliable, scalable, secure, and high-performing technology foundation. The successful candidate will combine strong infrastructure expertise with a demonstrated ability to develop talent, improve operational practices, and collaborate across technology and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across datacenter infrastructure, server virtualization, networking, and core IT systems, including Active Directory/Entra ID and Exchange.
• Partner with technology operations leadership to develop the infrastructure roadmap and align it with the firm's broader technology strategy.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing technical team. Set clear objectives and build technical depth through coaching, training, and succession planning.
• Collaborate with cloud platform teams to operate on-premises and public-cloud infrastructure as an integrated environment, advancing shared automation, observability, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Own the availability, resiliency, and performance of mission-critical infrastructure, including capacity planning, disaster recovery, and incident and problem management.
• Apply site reliability engineering practices, including service-level objectives, error budgets, and observability metrics.
• Establish measurable targets for uptime, performance, and capacity; communicate results and drive continuous improvement.
• Establish and lead 24/7 on-call and incident-response coverage, ensuring timely escalation and resolution of production issues.
• Partner with cybersecurity and other technology leaders to deliver secure, resilient solutions that support the firm's operational and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate cross-functional infrastructure staff and initiatives to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies and operating practices that improve service delivery and operational effectiveness.
• Manage infrastructure budgets, vendor relationships, and expenditures, including the selection and purchase of hardware and software.
• Communicate with senior leadership and business stakeholders to resolve issues and align infrastructure priorities with firm objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or extensive equivalent experience.
• Approximately 10-12 years of IT infrastructure experience, including at least five years of progressive supervisory experience managing cross-functional technology teams.
• Demonstrated success developing talent and leading teams through change.
• Proven experience operating highly available, mission-critical production environments with stringent uptime requirements.
• Strong experience with high-availability design, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency.
• Working knowledge of site reliability engineering practices, including service-level objectives, error budgets, monitoring, and observability.
• Ability to establish and lead 24/7 on-call and incident-response coverage.
• Experience managing technology environments within financial services, ideally investment management or a comparable regulated institution.
• Understanding of the reliability, security, and compliance expectations of a regulated financial-services environment.
• Hands-on experience across on-premises datacenters and public-cloud environments.
• Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, Palo Alto, AWS, and Azure preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to remain actively involved in technical design, implementation, and complex troubleshooting while managing a team.
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
