Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

A well-established Midwest-based product company designs and manufactures its own integrated hardware and software systems. The engineering team is lean, Agile, and highly collaborative, focusing on hardware platforms, connected device ecosystems, wireless communication, and intelligent edge systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software in C/C++.
• Participate in architecture decisions involving microcontroller and embedded Linux platforms.
• Integrate hardware peripherals, displays, networking interfaces, and communication systems.
• Develop and validate firmware for real-time device functionality.
• Support connectivity across wireless and wired communication protocols.
• Contribute to system integration, validation, and production readiness.
• Participate in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and field issue resolution.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and cross-functional teams in a fast-moving product environment.
• Support firmware deployment, upgrade, and long-term maintainability strategies.

This role involves owning embedded software development throughout the full product lifecycle, working cross-functionally with hardware, mechanical, manufacturing, operations, service, and QA teams to build and ship products used in live operational environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded software or firmware engineering experience.
• Strong embedded C/C++ development experience.
• Exposure to both microcontroller-based systems and embedded Linux environments.
• Experience integrating hardware, peripherals, displays, or communication systems.
• Product-minded engineer with a strong ownership mentality.
• Comfortable in collaborative, hands-on environments.
